Seam Sealing

with standard seams

Sealing applications in the automotive industry have increased significantly during recent years. Learn everything you need to know about sealing, particularly seam sealing in vehicle body repair, from the use of standard beads to reproduction of OEM textures.

Get the Materials

In vehicle repair it is crucial to reproduce the same quality and visual appearance provided by the original OEM seams to avoid corrosion. With the below instruction you can recreate standard brush textures and standard seams.

STEP 1

Surface Treatment

Clean all contamination from the surfaces and pre-treat sealing area with TEROSON VR 20.

STEP 2

Before application

Remove bottom cover and open cartridge. Screw on nozzle tightly. Insert cartridge and adjust nozzle to working position. For spacing and in between sealing use TEROSON RB 81 (cartridge or profiled tape).

STEP 3a

Application – Brush texture

You can either apply the adhesive directly with a special hard brush or you can finish an existing fresh applied bead with it.

STEP 3b

Application – Standard bead

Produced by extruding sealant from a cartridge / foil pack through a nozzle. For the application of standard beads, there mainly exist two different nozzle types: The door edge nozzle and the standard nozzle. Use for basic sealing and gap-filling applications.

STEP 3c

Application – Sealing Tape

Spray-on sealing tape (TEROSON RB II)
Plastic sealing tape (TEROSON RB II)
Plastic sealing tape, round profile (see picture) (TEROSON RB VII)
