Such parts can be repaired with epoxy resins and anaerobic products, always depending on the degree of wear.

Cooling the shaft is not recommended because of the risk of condensation and icing.

With a shrink-fit, only about 35 per cent of the actual surface area is used for power transmission. If an anaerobic retaining adhesive is used, the surface area increases to 100 per cent.

Curing can be accelerated with heat and/or by using an activator.

A slow-curing anaerobic adhesive, e.g. LOCTITE 620, is recommended. Press-fitting causes high frictional forces, giving rise to frictional heat that accelerates the curing of the adhesive.
